Actos or Pioglitazone is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is used in combination with a well diabetic diet, daily workout, weight control, no smoking, and vigilant observation of blood glucose. Actos is also used in mixture with metformin or Glucophage that is used to lower the blood glucose. This medicine is not prescribed for treating type I diabetes where the quantity of insulin is very little or missing. Actos is permitted for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in combination with insulin and another class of anti-diabetic drugs like sulfonylureas.
