Adaferin gel 0.1% w/v is a topical formulation drug that on the whole regulates the cellular isolation and keratinization suggesting the important characteristics in the natural process of acne vulgaris. Adaferin gel gets bound to the nuclear receptors of retinoic acid and affects the growth of cells and decrease redness, swellings and inflammation. It reduces the number and severity of acne and pimples and promotes the quicker healing of pimples that have developed.
Indications of Adaferin Gel:
Adaferin gel is indicated to treat the acne on chest, face or back in the patients of 12 years of age or above.
Contraindications of Adaferin gel:

Instructions to use Adaferin gel:
Adaferin gel is used topically for the effective treatment of acne. Wash your hands and face before applying Adaferin with a mild cleanser. Pat the skin with a towel to make it dry. Apply a thin layer of Adaferin gel to the affected area or face. Avoid the contact with the eyes, skin, lips, with the Adaferin gel. During the initiation of the medication, condition of acne may get worse and would get corrected by the time.
Adaferin gel can interact with vitamins, herbal products, and some drugs that can cause interactions when used simultaneous are any products that contain glycolic acid, alpha hydroxyl acids; lotions, hair dyes that contains alcohol, lime or menthol; products that contains sulfur, resorcinol, salicylic acid. Soap and cosmetic that has a strong drying effect. Drugs that can increase the sensitivity to sunlight are Fluoroquinolones, tetracycline, thiazide diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide, sulfa drugs like sulfamethoxazole, and phenothiazine like chlorpromazine.
Storage conditions of Adaferin gel 0.1%:
Adaferin gel is stored at room temperature (15-25 0C). Store the gel away from the reach of the children and the pets. Keep the drug away from excessive heat, light and moisture. Do not freeze.

Adaferin gel is available for external use and should be administered once in a day. Best time of application is during bed time.
Apply Adaferin gel daily for the effective treatment. If you have forgotten to apply your dose then use it as soon as you get remembered. If it is the time for the next dose then omit it and go on with your regular doses.
Adaferin gel generally does not cause any overdose as it is intended for topical use only. If it is used in excess amount it will not give rapid or better result. If you have doubts that you have applied extra dose then seek medical attention. However symptoms may include skin, redness, scaling or irritation.
Side effects that can be experienced while using Adaferin gel are burning sensation warm feeling, stinging, tingling, redness or irritation, etc. A serious side effect includes signs of allergic reactions like pimples, hives, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face. During the initial 4 weeks of using Adaferin gel may cause the skin to become dry, red or scaly.
Some precautions that you should keep in mind while medication of Adaferin are-
- If you are allergic or hypersensitive to Adaferin.
- Avoid contact of Adaferin with nose, eyes, lips, etc.
- If required then use a moisturizing cream for application and also keep away from the products that contains glycolic acid or alpha hydroxyl.
- Avoid contact of the Adaferin with eyes otherwise it can cause irritation, conjunctivitis, allergic reactions and inflammations.
- Do not apply the Adaferin gel on the injured or wounded or abraded skin.
- Do not get the exposure to the skin and if it is necessary to go out in the sunlight then use good sunscreen or cover your face and hand properly with clothes.
