Testosterone is a male sex hormone. Sustanon is the brand name for Testosterone. Testosterone is essential for sexual and reproductive development of the body. At low level, women also produce this Testosterone. It belongs to the class of male hormone known as androgen. Testosterone is produced by testes and its production is controlled by hypothalamus of brain and pituitary gland.
Sustanon, a popular steroid, is composed of testosterone isocaporate, testosterone propionate, testosterone propionate, and testosterone decanoate and testosterone phenyl propionate.
Testosterone is mainly involved for the development of male sex organs and secondary sex character at puberty. This hormone is responsible for hair growth in face & body and deepens voice in case of male. Apart from this, Testosterone is also responsible for changes in muscle mass & strength of body and distribution of fat, sexual function, maintains mood & energy level and responsible for bone strength.
The T level also known as Testosterone level, in healthy men, ranges between 300 ng/dL to 1000 ng/dL that is said to the normal level. The brain and testes works in coordination so that is maintains this level. In case, the level of Testosterone reaches the below the normal level, the brain signals the testes for producing more. Testosterone is beneficial for hair growth in body, develops bones and muscles and also stimulates the production of red blood cell (RBC).
The vial should be stored at room temperature between 20° to 25°C and should be protected from light. However, the vial should always be inspected properly for discolouration and particulate matter before injecting. For better and clear inspection, the vial of the injection should not be shaken else the particulate matter will dissolve, if it is present inside the vial.
Mechanism of action:
Testosterone works by activation the androgen receptor. Also by conversion to estradiol and activate estrogen receptors, the medicine has shown excellent result. In turn free testosterone is transported into the cytoplasm of the target tissue cells. Here, it binds to the androgen receptor and gets reduced to 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by the cytoplasmic enzyme 5-alpha-redcutase. This DHT in turn binds to the same androgen receptor with more potency, thus forming a complex. This complex undergoes structural changes and allows it to move into the cell nucleus. It binds directly to the specific nucleotide sequences of the chromosomal DNA and this place is referred as hormone response element. This influences the transcriptional activity of some genes and hence produces androgen effects.
Testosterone is mainly involved in the development of secondary sexual characters and organs in case of men.
